4 Essential Items That Saved Me During Postpartum

Hey there, fellow mamas! If you’ve just welcomed a little one into your life or are about to, congratulations! The postpartum period can be both beautiful and challenging, filled with a rollercoaster of emotions and physical changes. I’m here to share four essential items that made my postpartum journey a bit smoother and more manageable. After a 3rd degree tear (there’s no such thing as TMI when talking postpartum, right?!), figuring it all out was essential! Let’s keep going!

1. Pink Stork Postpartum Mood Support

Let’s start with something that truly made a difference for me: Pink Stork Postpartum Mood Support capsules. Those first couple of weeks are SO hard. Somehow, you’re supposed to pop out a child, keep it alive and take care of yourself…you who just went through a beautifully traumatic experience and if it was anything like mine, your vagina basically got shredded. I was finding myself shedding LOTS of tears. I know it was just the “baby blues” for now (was hoping and praying things wouldn’t get worse), but I thought to myself “it’s 2023, there HAS to be something to help me.” Ding ding ding – a quick search and what do I find, these magical supplements with thousands of fantastic reviews from other moms. They are packed with natural ingredients designed to support hormonal balance, boost energy, and aid in recovery. Thanks to Amazon, they made it to my front porch the next day. Yes, I 100% paid the $2.99 for next day delivery. After a couple of days taking these capsules, I was feeling so much better. PHEW! I knew several friends that had either just had babies or were pregnant and I immediately sent them the link. And also promised myself I would start adding them to baby shower gifts! I knew I was nourishing my body during such a demanding time, so that also helped me feel like I was giving myself some extra love. If you’re looking for a natural boost, I highly recommend giving them a try!

2. 2-in-1 Postpartum Pads

Ah, padcicles—my saving grace! For those unfamiliar, these pads are simply frozen pads soaked in witch hazel. After giving birth, I was shocked by the level of discomfort I experienced. The hospital gave me some ice packs, but they didn’t quite cut it. The Frida Mom 2-in-1 Postpartum Pads were perfect for me! The cooling effect was so soothing, and it really helped with swelling and discomfort. Trust me, your postpartum lady bits will thank you!

3. Disposable Underwear

Remember when we were younger (and maybe sometimes still) and had underwear designated for when we were on our periods? Well, let me introduce you to the postpartum version that is even better because you don’t have to spend time soaking the blood stains out! Drum roll please… Frida Mom Women’s Disposable Underwear! Run, don’t walk! I took mine to the hospital because I knew those first couple of days would be the worst! They made the whole experience so much easier! These ultra-comfy, stretchy briefs are designed for those first few weeks when you’re dealing with bleeding and discomfort. Huge pad + underwear into the trash = does it feel any more liberating?  After a long day of caring for my newborn, the last thing I wanted to think about was washing yucky postpartum underwear! In fact, I sure wish I would’ve had more – stock up on these babies!

4. Upside Down Peri Bottle

Let’s talk about the peri bottle. This little gadget became my new bestie during the early days of recovery. It’s basically a postpartum lady bits bidet! I don’t know how we ever managed without them! I filled mine with warm water to help soothe soreness and promote healing…QUICK healing for that lovely 3rd degree. It made a world of difference as going to the bathroom during those first couple of weeks is a bit intimidating. The hospital will have a more “hospital” version of this, so keep this one at home – fresh and ready for your first arrival to the potty!

Navigating the postpartum period can be a challenge, but with some helpful items, you can make the journey a little easier on yourself. And when you are feeling your best, you are the best version of yourself caring for that baby! Postpartum mood support capsules, padcicles, disposable underwear, and a peri bottle became my lifelines, helping me to heal and adjust to new mom life. Remember, every woman’s experience is unique, so find what works best for you and don’t hesitate to ask for help when you need it. After all, this whole thing is a LIFE changer in all the ways! I highly recommend stocking up on all these items before the baby arrives, so you are ready to go! Go get em’, mama!
